I have a family member who sent me the following email, would love to hear your

suggestions.....

My 3 year old split her head open, it was medically glued but got infected and

scabbed and fell off several times. As a result she has been left with a 1 inch

scar but it is indented rather than raised and is getting bigger as she grows.

It is around 6 months old.

Which oil(s) would you recommend and what is the best method of

application/duration?

Thanks!

I'd mix some olive, peanut(if not allergic to nuts), castor, coconut oils and

add a bit of Tea Tree Essential oil to the mix. Also Geranium EO is good for

scarring and rebuilding skin tissue.

My son had the same thing happen, only he had actual stitches. We put vitamin E

on it for about a month or so, now we make sure to cover it with sunscreen. His

is looking really good.

Hi Rachel

I made a blend of oils that has proven very successful. I sell a ton of this.

It is very effective for surgical scars and can be applied as soon as the

bandages come off. Many a surgeon has taken a double take of the persons chart

when they see how fast a scar has healed and cant believe its been such a short

time. Thing is you have to go and get stitches out much earlier or they will be

sealed in. I have many a story that people have shared with me on how this

helped them, from healing broken bones, to easing pain in an ankle break that

just would not heal (over 6 months) until this was oil was used.

I will share the recipe with you. Just mix and put in a 1 oz bottle.

20 grams Emu Oil - the deepest penetrating oil

5 grams Rosehip Oil - more generally recognized for scars

20 drops Helichrysum Essential Oil from Corsica - can't say enough good things

about this essential oil

10 drops Natural Vitamin E

I recommend applying this 20 times a day. That way people will probably do it

10 times a day. You just need a few drops each time.

Hope this helps.

Rosehip oil has been clinically proven to diminish scars due to its

high levels of trans retinoic acid. I use it in a facial cream. I

used to have acne scarring and it has completely disappeared. If I

was to create a scar oil, I would blend 2% helichrysum to rosehip

oil. This would be gentle enough for a 3 year old.

Hi Rachel,

I can understand about scars. Major ones. Back in 2003 I had a tummy tuck

with an incision that went from hip to hip. Also had some breast surgeries too.

So I didn't want to have a scar from any of that so did some reading and did

some testing. I developed the following blend and used it once or twice a day

for several weeks.

My husband can vouch for me and say the only place he can see the scar is where

the skin is a little puckered funny from where the drain tubes were placed and

you really don't see a scar just a funny pucker. On my breasts the scars are

non-existant, they are gone.

One thing about this blend, is it does help the nerves to regenerate. Anyone

that has had major surgery can tell you that the skin aroung the incision and

and the incision itself, will be numb and have little feelings for quite some

time.

The this numbness is not the same as the pain you initially feel that the

nerves/skin being severed. That pain disappears and then there is no

sensations.

For me I originally had no feeling of the sense of touch, pain nor the sensation

of heat or cold to the skin on my whole abdominal area.

Nerves can take a long time to heal and in some cases with the skin, you nerves

never regain sensation.

Well, using what I call the Scar Lightening blend, not only did my scars lighten

and fade away, but almost all my sensations - touch, pain and heat have all

returned except a small spot about the size of a 50 cent piece - where my belly

button used to be. (I don't have one any more as it was destroyed - another

weird long story).

Anyway, my point here is that the blend works and we sell alot of it.

Only a few drops are needed - a thin layer applied gently on the scar.

Applied a couple times a day is all you need to do.

The recipe is as follows. And like I said I know it works as you can no longer

see my 25 inch incision! (nor the others)

My Scar Blend Recipe

Helichrysum Corsica - 1 ml

Lavender - 1 ml

Sage - 10 drops

Neroli - 5 drops

Rosehip seed oil 1 oz

Hazelnut oil 1 oz.

We also sell it premixed on our website.

Hope this helps.
