Guest guest
Hi Roots need to be at least three years old I'm not sure if it there is a better time of year to dig them up or not. You dig them up & clean them off and let dry then chop them I weigh them out & stick them in a mason jar, then weigh out the vodka and pour over the roots. I use a 2:1 ratio (root:vodka). HTH Carol I want to make this, anyone have a recipe? I live in the North, and want to make it, flowers have died down, but weather is mild still, can I dig roots? Anyone know? Guest guest
No, it is a fine time to dig roots. They are best tinctured FRESH!! If you have your own, don't dry them first. Clean, chop, and cover with wodka. It is ridiculously easy. When you dig them up you have this big muddy clump of tangled root mass. It looks like it will never get clean. The trick is to pull the mass apart into individual crownlets. Keep some for replanting. I let mine sit for months, it gets really strong. Ien in the Kootenays, where the Echi got damaged by deer. They never used to eat it. http://freegreenliving.com http://wildhealing.net
Guest guest
I meant dried after cleaning, not for months. Sorry I should have clarified. I like to inspect the roots after the first cleaning to see if any dirt is still clinging to them and if so I wash them again. I forgot to add I shake the bottle everyday or every other for about 2 weeks, after that I just pour off what I need and let the rest sit. I agree it is ridiculously easy!
