Guest guest
Ien, You can find the recipe for Thieves/FourRobbers/etc oil online... the ingredients are Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) Lemon (Citrus limon) Cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum verum)** Eucalyptus radiata Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis CT 1,8 cineol). Here are two recipes available in several different places on the web: The Easy Recipe: Equal amounts of eucalyptus, rosemary, cinnamon, clove and lemon. The Less Easy Recipe: Clove bud oil 8 Lemon oil 7 Cinnamon bark oil 4 Eucalyptus 3 Rosemary 2 (I use this second recipe. The ratio numbers can be applied to any measurement you'd like... drops, teaspoons, ml, etc. There's a total of 24 parts in the recipe-- so if you're using teaspoons, you'll end up with 24 teaspoons of thieves oil-- 1/2 cup. 24 drops of Thieves oil would be about 1 ml, so multiply the recipe by 5 if you want to fill a 5ml bottle.) Remember that this recipe does not include a carrier oil; you'll need to add that if you want to use it on skin. I think it's a lovely holiday scent to diffuse, especially if you add a drop or so of sweet orange... and the health benefits are impressive. ** Cinnamon bark oil is a potent skin sensitizer, and most reputable oil sources don't sell it. I've started substituting cinnamon leaf oil and the scent is still just lovely. Kim
Guest guest
and just in case anyone wants to make the vinegar, from The Rosemary House blog: _http://therosemaryhouse.blogspot.com/search?q=four+thieves+vinegar_ (http://therosemaryhouse.blogspot.com/search?q=four+thieves+vinegar) she writes.... There are as many different versions of the recipe as there are versions of the story. Here is one version: 2 T each of the following herbs Rosemary, Sage, Lavender, Wormwood, Peppermint, and Rue in 1 pint of Vinegar. Some versions include garlic as well. Our version is 2/3 C Horseradish 1 red onion, 2-3 Garlic bulbs, 12 sage leaves, two thyme sprigs, 1 rosemary sprig pinch of ginger 1 pint of vinegar. Blend it all in the blender and bottle. It will look frothy like this (photo is on the blog) but in the morning will be a powerful medicine. This is a strong blend. You can mix it with some water to drink it down. Guest guest
I tried to put myself in the robbers position (shudder) and thought 'hm, so its the time of the black plague, robbers probably didn't bathe..and propably went by lore of the wise people whether passed down or whatever and what would they have easy access to? herbs from gardens, perhaps some wild plants as well, i can see lemon, not sure about eucalyptus, but with the spice trade, cinnamon and clove and then remembered the song 'ring around the rosie, pockets full of posies, ashes ashes we all fall down'. Harmless little diddy when we were kids and horrific to learn about as adults.....'pockets full of posies'......to kill the smell or as protection? They could have stuffed every pocket and pouch they had and made masks A. so no one would know them B. to 'keep the sickness away' and with handling the herbs they would have gotten the oils in their hands , in and on their clothing and if a face mask was rubbed with the herbs and /or if those herbs were left in like a filter......then I deduced my dear watsons, that probably the most common blend was used and I'm sure a charm, a root or something that was never reported was also in use. scary, thats how my mind works naturally LOL.....with scientific studies we all now have benefit of the herbal properties that have been studied and it seems many herbs bore out well and did the same thing so we would have variations. The herbs and things I use I choose local as a rule with the exception of what we've talked about in this blend . World over people have had access to plants we've yet to learn or know about with properties that would stun us all. Sadly those plants are disappearing. I have been told by indigenouse peoples where ever I have lived to use the local plants for ones health tho once in a while they did trade some for some herbs, age old tradition. I'll end my self indulgent post with what I think is a sad story. Years ago in a healthfood store I was working in a young man with a back pack came in and had done some traveling taking pics. This was backed by National Geographic and a major drug company. He had returned from the rain forest where a shaman took him to see literally the LAST of certain plants....an unassuming flower, pretty and powerful and that was the last one . The shaman told this young man that medicine grows from the roots to above the ground, to mid level and in the canopy tops.....the things he use to get from the canopy tops are all gone.....no pictures to take. the ground? few if any left and that ONE flower ....the last. I'm guessing it was not one to seed. Going thru those photographs besides the obvious stellar quality of each pic, it really was very, very sad. Dont think I'll ever forget that. That was about 20 years ago......I cannot imagine how much more is gone. evie
Guest guest
Selkie, I once read that for every illness on Earth. There was a natural cure for it. Now, I believe that most of those natural cures not found yet, are probably mostly gone. It sure would have been nice to find natural cures for the cancers, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and so forth. Alas, I'm afraid we are on the end of a losing battle. Guest guest
Bill I sadly agree with you. If one is into mythology the atlanteans destroyed themselves with the things they created yet were not wise enough to manage. Perhaps we can change that bit of cubic feet we inhabit and change it. At least whatever it is we see at the end of our passing will show a positive at least for trying to be good stewards and appreciating this magnificent ovum we call earth. We are entering a very active phase on the earth. My daughter is a combat meteorologist and in weather school five or six years ago they were taught big changes coming. until such time I cease to exist in flesh I hope to continue to enjoy this and indeed, do stop and smell the roses.......thats a profound statement and you can use it multifaceted. I want to know my kids and grand baby have a shot at a better earth and I too believe that all that can cure us is here. Our bodies are made of up every element there is.......disease is an imbalance and now those special things they haven't studied may never get to that level, they'll be gone. I'm off to bed. I think tonite I'll talk to mother earth and tell her what a wonderful and beautiful bountiful blessing she has been. i cannot imagine if the seas were to be drained the wreckages and junk we would find and knowing that floating above us is space trash......we never learn. Maybe the mayans were right about 2012 syndrome. perhaps not that exact year but at some point when you make a pile and run a way from the stink you find yourself with no direction to go because of what one has done. All we can do is our best. Guest guest
I believe that natural cures still exist for every and all illness. I do believe that cancer can be cured with an all natural, vegan diet - I know people who have done this. Disease cannot exist in an Alkaline body. This is a well known, scientific fact, but I don't know why our doctors are not telling people this - could it be because they won't believe them? Sad. Just my 2 cents!
