Guest guest
I only have 80 proof vodka, I thought that was what I needed to soak these roots. However now reading further I see that it is recomm. to use Everclear, or stronger alcohol, as this is more pure. The 80 proof vodka has half water in it then. This can cause mold? Any thoughts on this? I don't think I can return my vodka, even unopened now. Laws, etc. Help! Anybody with experience out there?
Guest guest
Hi Seashell I don't think this should be problematic, although I would defer to those members with more experience. There's plenty enough alcohol in 80 proof alcohol to act as a preservative and fend off the baddies. In theory, the alcohol portion should " absorb " the alcohol-soluble chemicals in the roots, and the water portion would absorb any water-soluble chemicals. Guest guest
I have used 80 proof vodka when I cannot get Smirnoff Blue Label at 100proof. My tinctures last forever, don't worry.
