Someone asked me, and I wasn't sure of the answer... She has some

Peppermint Oil (Aura Cacia brand), and wondered if she could put it into

food for peppermint flavoring? I think she's thinking hot chocolate,

brownies, and chocolate coins. She says " it's a few years old, and I

don't know if it's still usable for anything " . I think by " a few " she

means something like 5-10 years.

Thanks!

Karen

Hi Karen,

I definitely wouldn't use an essential oil that old in food, and I'd be

reluctant to use it topically. Best thing would be for diffuser or cleaning

products.

Hi Karen

That's pretty darn old, but as long as it smells OK, should work fine as long

as she mixes the pepp oil into the fat portion first (and by the drop!). As

for hot chocolate, if she is actually using the chocolate (i.e. not just cocoa

powder), she could melt the chocolate first with the pepp oil and then add milk.

The peppermint oil itself won't dissolve in water based preparations.
