Guest guest
How are you dealing with spiders? My understanding is their legs being long protect them and unless you hit the varmint directly with something that is poisonous nothing will work short of slapping one good with a shoe and cracking the exoskeleton. We bombed under our house once and they all ran up into the house ARGHHHHHHHH. I am toying with the idea of buying geckles once I'm sure any residue is gone......and what about scorpions? evie
Guest guest
I draw a line of paprika in the doorways. Some spiders won't walk through it, I was told long time ago, and still do it in the spring. It doesn't stop brown recluse or tree spiders. We get this little, striped hopping spider it seems to work on. I use the paprika because the hopping spiders are obnoxious, it seems to keep them outside after I put down the paprika. The one that scares me the most are bees and wasps. We've had a wasp sting one of the cats (yes, she tried to play with it, and it stung her on the nose, silly girl), and I have lots of allergies, and I just really don't want the experience. I really don't know all that much about bugs. I'm originally from the near Chicago suburbs, where the brown recluse and waterbugs dominate. Now I live about 100 miles away, not rural, but about 10 minutes from it. Gretta On Behalf Of Selkie Friday, December 18, 2009 9:12 PM Re: Mice and Rats now spiders How are you dealing with spiders? Guest guest
I use peppermint oil on spiders--I just cut it with alcohol and sprayed the spaces where I saw them. Haven't seen one in months since I did it. Serra On Fri, Dec 18, 2009 at 9:12 PM, Selkie <earthmotheressentials wrote: > > > > How are you dealing with spiders? Guest guest
I'll try that for sure. I like the scent of peppermint anyway. Makes the air feel clean! Guest guest
Evie, I made a deal with my spiders. They stay up near the ceiling out of my reach and they can live. If they come down near me. They die! Now, why the deal? Spiders and their cobwebs trap an awful lot of flying insects. We rarely see any flying insect in the house, unless someone left an outside door open. Only once have I seen a spider catch and wrap a scorpion though. I left that bugger alone, so he or she could catch more scorpions. Yeah, I know how to get rid of scorpions. get rid of the small bugs they feed on. Another reason for the spiders staying inside and outside the house mostly unmolested by me. BTW, I think this falls under the 'etc' above. Bill Selkie wrote: > How are you dealing with spiders?
