Guest guest
Hi All, To help with all the confusion about warmers and diffusers: Simply look at the root of the word - Diffuser Diffuse - to spread out, to disseminate, to disperse. Technically anything that can get the essential oils out into the air is considered a diffuser. There are many different ways to " diffuse " essential oils, each one has its own merits and attributes and will depend on the application you are trying to achieve for your essential oils. Warmers come in as one of those types of 'diffusers' that will put a certain decor or ambiance into any room. A Tealight warmer uses a small candle as the heat source, but there are electric versions that use a heating plate or a light bulb under a bowl to warm either water or wax. Both the water and wax have the essential oils added to them and will disperse or diffuse into the air depending on the amount of heat applied. Then there are Fan type diffusers - essential oils on a pad then a fan either blows through the pad or over the pad and diffuses the EO's into the room. There are Nebulizer- Atomizer type diffusers - they use a special glass apparatus to produce tiny molecule vapors of the EO's. This type of diffuser won't allow you to use thick oils like patchouli or vetiver as they are to viscous to allow vaporization. There are the simple diffusers - a cotton ball or piece of cloth as was stated earlier by Gary. Or Passive type like Terra Cotta discs. Like I said it depends on the application. If you need to diffuse into a large room just for scenting or for help with a health concern you can use a fan or nebulizer or a warmer; If it is for a single person a necklace or other passive type diffuser is all that is necessary. Usually nebulizer type diffusers are not needed in most homes. They have more breakable parts and can be hard to clean. Warmers with soy wax are great as they are both decorative, low heat and will diffuse EO's into a large room. Fan diffusers work great in most all homes and medical facilities. Hope this helps explain that a Warmer is just one of several different types of diffusers. You can read more about diffusers and how to choose one - we call it the " Variables " for choosing a diffuser on the following page of our website. http://birchhillhappenings.com/diffuserfactor.htm Or this page for information about different types of diffusers http://birchhillhappenings.com/aroma4a.htm Yours in Aromatherapy, Penny Your One Stop Aromatherapy Shop!
