Hi all:

Let's see:  Had the names of the folks with the questions and rec'd an intense

phone call and forgot.  Sorry about that.  Since my computer still hasn't been

moved, still playing catch up, so please forgive me for hitting on more than one

subject at time.

Possible Fixative for neck wraps, etc.  Cellulose Fiber Fixative~Looks a bit

like small bits of corn cob.  It has been used for potpourri in the past.  It's

primary job is to:  Hold Scent Longer.  We bought 3~1lb bags of this for our

Trapping scents and did not use them.  If someone wants 1 or all 3 for cost or

less, plus shipping, I'll be happy to send them along to you.

My thoughts would be to add the eo's directly to the cellulose and whatever

medium you are going to use, and it should hold your scent longer.

Cellulose can be made from wood pulp and is used to make rayon, some type of

silks, or it can be made from glucose.

In the past, when I made single purpose sleep, headache, or respiratory wraps,

they were drawstring at one end to add to them, etc. Something of that

sort, that can be used  to add an additional drop or two directly on the wrap

should work well, You can send each wrap with a small bottle of eo with it.  Of

course, you will need to charge for it rather than go in the hole. <grin>

Edwina?~Years ago I was in the Health Food Biz, worked for a manufacturer.  Lots

of info via printed material came across my desk and elsewhere, plus books added

to my own library.  The one thing that stuck with me was using vitamin therapy

for mental illness was Vitamin B therapy.  It included larger doses of B-12.  It

is probably the least harmful to the system due to side affects of prescription

meds for these illnesses.  Always hoped my brother would consider taking B

therapy at some point, but his illness is so severe and that he had to stay on

meds to stay half way stable.  He is a severe paranoid schizophrenic. The meds

tend to be the same on a lot of levels for Bi-polar and schizophrenia. I have

no  degree in relation to this disease, but I have been his patient advocate for

over 30 years, and his care giver for over 16 years, and have studied this

disease loads over those years.  He is a veteran and boy have I seen a lot over

the

years!  We have done A-typical studies for almost every A-typical drug out

there.  They can be wonderful for some folk, but never worked for him. As his

POA, I'm his voice when he is unable to make sense to the hospitals, doctors,

health care workers, etc.

Lots of the meds out there today have so many side affects, it can be scary.

Just listen to them when their commercials are on TV, at the end they have to

tell you some of the side affects.

There is a National Mental Health org that has an 800 number. Very experienced

folks answer the phones, some of them with the same illnesses.  This could be a

great resource for you and your family.  If there is a bigger city nearby you,

they may even have a great Al-a-non meeting center. This is normally for the

family of mental patients and can be very helpful.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, and here's hoping your

boy gets the help he needs.

One thing that happens early on with the patients is:  They get to feeling good

and think they don't need their meds and go off of them.  This is a recipe for

disaster and will put them in physcosis aka breakdown mode faster than

anything.  Over the years, they will learn that they have to take regular

supplements or meds to stay on even keel.

One suggestion I would make is to always watch every thing you say to a mentally

ill patient, as they can twist those words around and it can create havic for

them, and they may relive those words years later in breakdown mode.

Vitamin B therapy:  In order for a single Vitamin B to work, you must have the

B-Complex in your system.  B-12 is best via a shot, altho some folks tout the

ones that melt under your tongue. Should you decide to try the supplement route,

try to find a good Naturapatic Doctor in your area, a DO, a good Indian Dr. that

has a background in herbs and supplements in India may help. or just an open

minded regular Doc may be of help to you and yours.

BTW, Vita Cost has the best price on vitamins for the most part.  I use TwinLab

B~Stress complex caps.  Those sell for app. $50 or more in a health food store

for the 250 count bottle. Vita Cost sells them for under $20.  It also has 1000

mg of Vitamin C in each capsule.

This is part of a vitamin B regimen for Neuropathy too, which is nerve damage

due to Diabetes or many other things.  Symptoms includes:  burning or severe

pain in the feet, legs, arms, etc.

Try a search on the net for Bi-polar Vitamin Therapy, or as some call Blood

chemical imbalance.

Best of luck to you and yours,

deb
