Guest guest
Howdy y'all, Below is a note from a News Group I monitor. Obviously this offer is not for the average family .. but with over 2,000 people on the list its possible someone might be interested. I don't know the person who is making the offer but I do know a good bit about Anatolian Shepherds .. also known as the " Sivas Kangal " and if we did not already have 5 dogs on our homestead I would jump on this like a duck on a June Bug. During one of my many stays in Turkey I had one and tried to bring it back to the U.S.A. but exportation was verboten .. at that time the Turkish government considered them to be a " national treasure. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kangal_Dog An amazing dog. While guarding sheep they work as a male - female team. When a wolf is sighted, the lighter weight (and faster) female will rush the wolf and try to get it to chase her. The male remains hidden and laying low while the female circles around and leads the wolf to where the heavier male is laying low in hiding. The male then rushes forth .. bowls over the wolf with his large body .. and puts the habbeus grabbus on the wolf's neck .. end of wolf. Again .. I have no personal interest in this offer .. just passing it along. Contact and questions should be addressed to the person making the offer. Y'all have a good one .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch ... http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We have a 10 month old Anatolian Shepherd that we need to place with a wonderful new family. We would love to be able to keep her, she is really a fantastic puppy but due to an injury when she was younger she can not be a livestock guardian. As I mentioned we would love to be able to keep her but ours is a working ranch and we just do not have time to give her the attention that she deserves. Her name is Brain and she is exceptionally intelligent. She is on heart worm preventive and her shots are current. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is very well mannered and loves going for walks. Brain is accustomed to and does fine with other pets, including ducks. Anatolian Shepherds do not reach adulthood until they are at least 3 yrs old so at only 10 months and 95 lbs Brain still has some growing to do. She will probably reach at least 150lbs so the adopting family will need to keep her large size in mind. New family requirements: We would prefer that Brain go to a home school family or to a family where there is someone home at least most of the time. Please do not apply if there are very young children in the family. Due to Brain's disability she is not a good dog for children under 5-6 yrs old. She will need a fenced yard of at least 4ft high fence and daily walks and an occasional run. Anatolians love to run, even dogs with a disability. Even though Anatolians are large dogs they can live to age 15 or more if properly cared for and given the correct diet. Brain's grandfather worked until he was 15 yrs old. We own both of Brain's parents. Anatolians are very gentle dogs but also very protective of their people and other family pets and animals. After over 20 years of experience training all sorts of animals I have learned that training an Anatolian is much more like training a horse than training a dog. The adopting family will need to understand that along with an evaluation we will need to spend some time (at least 2-3 hours) with the new family so that they will understand this very unique breed of dog. Brain is very affectionate and loves TLC but she will need time to adjust to her new family and will be homesick for a while. While we are not charging the normal $900.00 fee for a puppy we will expect the adopting family to be willing to pay for delivery and the vet bill for a final checkup and for spaying. The vet bill should be less than $250.00 and the delivery fee is based on the actual mileage to your home. If you are interested in Brain and would like more information please email us at triplehranchtexas Please let us know where Brain would be living and information about your family, including other animal family members, and why Brain would be happy and well cared for living with your family. I'll be happy to send pics of Brain and her parents and to explain more about her disability to those that are truly interested in having a wonderful, intelligent puppy added to their family. We want to make sure that Brain is going to be adopted into a loving home with individuals that will love and care for her for the rest of her life. Again, Brain will be wonderful protection and pet for a family but can not be a working dog due to her disability. Please feel free to forward this notice to other individuals or groups that you think might be interested. Thanks, Guyna Horne Triple H Ranch, Texas Reg.
