Tales of Woe

So I got a new puppy. She's a Labradoodle. Cost us 300 for her and another

200 for stuff. That was just the original laying out costs. Price of puppy

has since gone up exponentially. Puppy will be 4 months old on Saturday (if

she lives that long). She has destroyed one 1800 dollar laptop (mine)

because stupid here left out a cup of tea by the lap top and Bunny knocked

it over onto the laptop. One very dead laptop. I loved that computer, had

everything on it that I ever wanted, would never need but was there in case

I did, had an 18 point something inch screen, SIGH. So, $500 bucks and a new

but less lovely laptop later, I learned my lesson, 500 buck labradoodle is

now a 2800 dollar labradoodle.

So yesterday, we go out to lunch, leave labradoodle home and my bottom

drawer open. I was working on the website... also in the drawer were bags of

mini cadbury chocolate eggs... stashed for when easter season was open, was

supposed to last for several months....

come home find one pound bag demolished and half of another 2 pound bag also

ingested. Equals one VERY chocolate laden dog and a pissed me. Dog is smart,

she knew what to do. She drank gallons of water, threw up at LEAST 10 times

(have the stains to prove it) and will now cost the visit of one

professional carpet cleaner on Wednesday next week. Dog is now over 3000

dollars.

Most often used phrase around the house " Oh GOD Bunny, Get out of it! "

One labradoodle for sale, cheap, just $3000.00. I'll eat the rest of the

costs. >sigh<

Finally got the pictures up (excuse me a moment, gotta go take tape away

from the cheap puppy)... if anyone wants to take a look. Some are obviously

for the Beadhussy site, they aren't set up for purchasing and some are not

even seasonal, will be up next christmas season, so this isn't an ad, just a

" take a look if you want " . address is:

going to now go take away a cardboard box from cheap puppy.

wow. I too can relate.

Our 'free' rescue dog cost us plenty when we came home from camping, I threw my

bag (open) on the living room floor to race out to somethine we had to get to,

and she got into the Tylenol (which can cause liver failure in dogs).

Three days, $750 at the emergency hospital, and a stomach pumping later, she was

just fine (and probably would've been had we not had her treated)....13 years

later, she's still with us, cleaning up the floor when I drop things and scaring

the mailman away every day :).

There is no such thing as a 'free' dog.

BTW, my SIL raises Salukis and she tells me chocolate can be deadly to dogs -

you got lucky, but apparently, just because it didn't affect her this time

doesn't mean it won't get her next time...make sure you eat all the chocolate

yourself.

LOL! Forgot to add in vet costs. AND in May she get's spayed.

Yes, although I hate to admit it, I love that damned dog.

I own two, one male schnoodle and the rotten female labradoodle. Never had a

female dog before, it's an interesting thing.

Difference between male and female is small but big.

*I* own the male, the female owns ME. She's more like a cat in nature that

the male dog. She has that standoffish attitude and isn't as " needy " as the

male is. But she is territorial over me. If Algie wants to be loved, she's

right there blocking his path. Doesn't mean SHE want's some lovin, just

doesn't want him to get it. It's a hoot.

Thanks for your note Penny, it was, as you said, familiar. ;-)

Hrmm.. so it's a female thing that female dogs are more territorial?

we used to have a female dog that was quite stand offish and more like a

cat. entirely different to our wussbag boy who will rollover for ANYONE who

offers him even a slight tickle or cuddle

Oh, my-they're worst than kids. I have a lab and if it is within reach she is

eating it. Just the other day, two plates of brownies-gone. Once it was an

entire pan of sausage and peppers completely licked clean, pan taken down from

the counter and not even broken. I think she has cost me thousands in the food

she has eaten. If I don't remember to put it out of reach, I know it's my own

fault. Susan

Sounds like our lab mix puppy! She used to eat ANYTHING on the counter or table

even if I pushed it away from the edge, she still found a way to reach it. But I

was able to quickly stop that behaviour. I began putting a few drops of black

pepper eo on a cotton ball and wipe it on the edge of the counter and table. It

worked so well that she is now 3 1/2 and she won't even walk all the way into

the kitchen! She also chewed my dining room set. So I made a blend of eo's in a

squirt bottle and sprayed furniture and shoes and that stopped too!

Laura (who got a puppy after having four kids and decided I wanted another

" baby " and then found out that a puppy is just as demanding and expensive as a

baby!)
