Guest guest
Howdy Susan, > The thing that I find disturbing is we are such a large and wealthy > nation, and we are letting people die. This might be true .. might be .. but we are also letting people die from wrongful diagnosis and treatment. Even the AMA reluctantly admitted in their Journal admitted that medical errors caused more deaths than firearms .. to include drive by shootings. Check out but ONE source .. top ten causes .. http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/death/overview.htm > When I hear people worry that taxes might go up a bit for health > care reform, I wonder what kind of people are we, that we aren't > willing to help each other out. I am of the opinion that few responsible people would object to taxes going up " a bit " if they believed those taxes would be spent for worth while reasons. I object to a one cent tax increase that will increase the size of government .. government does not produce .. it consumes. The hiring of 17,000 additional IRS inspectors to enforce an insurance mandate would not make me feel my taxes were being used properly .. but then studies to determine the life cycle of squash bugs and why mice become addicted to cocaine also does not make me feel good. Taxation without representation bothers me .. wasteful spending bothers me. Folks who are not employed would probably like to get $25 K for another year. If we take but $10 billion of the Stimulus Funding that was spent on pork how many folks could be paid $25 K for one year? > In the old days people understood that in order to survive we all > had to help our neighbors. It worked too .. still does in places like Henry County, TN .. where I live now. I'll be 68 in July and I recall many times when my family would cut their weekly grocery bill to buy a bag of goodies for another family .. then sneak over at night and leave them on the front porch. > We assisted each other with the harvesting of our crops and we held > barn raisings. Lots of that still going on here. > What happened to us? (sadly shaking my head) We lost our self reliance .. some folks became used to the government doing things for them .. or to them. Some folks needed government help .. others did not but still figured out ways to get it and we have done much to create a welfare mentality in certain parts of our society. It defeats the human soul. And guess what? Its gonna get worse. > Susan Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch .. http://www.AV-AT.com
