Guest guest
Butch, i always love a good stimulating conversation---and i do agree with much of what you have said. We all know people who abuse the system. But, as you also said, they take advantage now by going to the Emergency room (which eventually costs insured people as well as taxpayers---much the way shoplifting eventually costs the customers who pay). i also am opposed to paying for those who do not deserve the help. (i would even welcome random drug and alcohol testing for those on public money--even myself--although most of my income comes from the insurance i paid into for 25 years--and lowering or eliminating it if that is what they use it for---just like we make sure food stamps---which you can't even GET if you're on SSI, by the way,--don't cover alcohol, tobacco, or even diapers or toilet paper). But there are those who do need and deserve the help, and i can't see throwing the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak. The bill is not perfect, and will take tweeking along the way. But i do believe it is a good place to START, anyway. Peace, Vicky
