Guest guest
*Hello Susan,* I share your feelings about the mandate. I feel that as Americans we should > be able to have the right to boycott an industry if their business practices > conflict with out values. The only way I can make sense of this is that > people have been trying to reform health care in America for the greater > good for a very long time. They have always failed. So this is just a baby > step. I think that the American people will not be able to ignore the > exploitative practices of the health care industry when health insurance is > a mandate, and then we'll finally see real change. > *We will see and we will see .. and we will see if the mandate even stands.* > I participated in the poll and one of the questions had to do with the > tactics used to push the bill through. While I deplore the tactics used, I > also deplore the obstructionist tactics that were used to attempt to > guarantee failure of any type of reform. Sometimes it's necessary to fight > fire with fire. > Strongly disagree here .. on all counts. (1) It is the obligation of the Loyal or Disloyal Opposition (regardless of party) to play the game as best they can .. if they are allowed to play in a bipartisan manner then good it is for all concerned but if they are ignored and they strongly disagree with a bill .. and believe that it can be a better bill if it is not " rushed through " then they should do all they can to derail it. (2) It is my opinion that it is an obligation of each representative to vote as the majority of their constituents want them to vote. Some will disagree with this and say they should vote their feelings rather than those of their constituents. Nobody has yet proven which theory is right .. except in the election booth. (3) Though the Opposition has dragged their feet for years .. now that the issue was put on the front burner they were forced to get involved .. and it was not their desire to guarantee failure of ANY type of reform .. it was their intention to try to modify the bill .. and still get reform that was doable and could be paid for without driving us further in debt. (4) Fighting fire with fire is fine as long as its legal .. first thing comes to mind when I hear such words is the Right To Bear Arms and the fact that when one exercises that right they also have an obligation to own that round once it leaves the barrel. Like Davey Crockett said, " Make sure you're right .. then go ahead. " ;-) > I'm glad we have something, even though it is still not nearly as good as > what people have in the rest of the free world. > I am glad that you are glad and hope we all will be glad when the smoke clears. But I will NOT even come close to agreeing that the U.S. Health System is not nearly as good as those in the rest of the Free World. I did not get this opinion from the I-Net. > Susan > Y'all have a good weekend .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch ... http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/>
