Guest guest
" If you help those who work......they'll work and more often than not its medical care that keeps that mother or father in the system. " I have to jump in here, hopefully with respect of others opinions..... I just retired out of Michigan Dept of Human Services as a caseworker. This statement is just so wrong and out of touch with the " Normal " client (if there is such a thing). Until the last downturn in the American economy, when people still had jobs to apply for, the general public has not a clue what the average client is like. It isn't the disabled or recently divorced or recently let go. The average client is someone who is maybe past 30 and never worked a day in their life because the govt has made it so easy to not work. The give aways have to stop. There is more to the welfare system than medicaid and a check or food stamps. The general public really has no idea how much of your tax dollar goes to give away programs. You have no idea how much of your tax dollars is going to illegals who get more in govt benefits than you will ever think of applying for. And the local welfare worker is not allowed to report illegals to immigration. I could go on and on and on about what is wrong with the welfare system. Unfortunately, it makes it hard to have tax dollars around to help those truly need welfare...the disabled, and elderly...we have plenty of those to go around to keep our tax dollars busy.
