Guest guest
Howdy Tammy, Last year I had such terrible troubles with aphids around my garden, it > seemed that nothing worked to rid us of these pests! > Our garden is organic so I have to deal with this too .. as well, we get them on our roses. Spray the plants with water .. as hard as you can without damaging them. Then put a tad of dish washing soap in a spray bottle and spray the plants. We have lots of Lady Bugs in our garden and they do a great job on Aphids. > I had overwintered my pond plants in the garage - now that they are getting > some nice spring growth, I am noticing the aphids are covering the plants! > Any advice would be greatly appreciated. > Aside from purchasing Lady Bugs by the pound (I am serious . .they can be purchased) this is about as good a measure as you can probably find .. unless .. you have some Oregano Hydrosol. Couple of years ago we had it but we are out of stock now .. it works well to get rid of aphids. John Croskey and I leave for a 2 + week trip to Turkey the middle of June .. by the time we get back he will have made deals for a number of oils and hydrosols we have not had in stock for a long time now .. like Turkish Sage (Salvia fruticosa), Turkish Lavender (Lavandula stoechas), Oregano Linalool Type (Origanum dubium Linalool) .. and some hydrosols .. including Oiganum. For plants that you don't plan on eating .. if you are not so hung up on being totally organic you can use various pesticides .. but I don't use them. I am, however, FORCED to use fungicides from time to time on my apple trees .. those who say they never have and never will do this will wind up buying apples from the grocery store in some years .. especially years where there is a lot of rain around the time the blossoms and young fruits are forming .. or .. if there are a lot of cedar trees within a mile or so from their orchard. In this case we are dealing with reality rather than idealism. > Thanks in advance, > Tammy > My pleasure fer'shur .. y'all have a good one .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch ... http://www.AV-AT.com <http://www.av-at.com/>
