Guest guest
Cara, I have used this med many times for threatened abortion due to heat. However, since it was part of a polypharmacy formula, it's hard to say anything about the effectiveness of this med in particular. Typically, I combined it with Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae), since both have fetus-quieting functions. This is the only reason I use Zhu Ma Gen. Otherwise, it is not part of my repertoire. Guest guest
Hi Cara and mazoltov! I use Zhu Ma Gen as Bob suggested - for bleeding due to heat in pregnancy. I would add that I was taught to use it to nourish Yin, clear empty heat, stop bleeding and calm the fetus. I find it very useful in cases of threatened miscarriage due to Yin Xu. It is very similar in this way to Sang Ye - which my teacher also uses to nourish Yin, clear empty heat, stop bleeding and calm the fetus. Though it does clear heat, it is cool as opposed to cold (our materia medica says cold) so, as taught, I include it in cases of threatened miscarriage when there is Qi deficiency as well. Hope this helps Sharon On Aug 31, 2006, at 12:02 PM, wrote: Does anyone have any experience with this herb that they could share with me? Guest guest
Thanks Sharon, that is helpful. The plant looks familiar- like it¹s a common weed. I like your comparison to Sang Ye. Cara O.
