Guest guest
Hey Paul, I've mostly lurked in the shadows here for the past 6 or 7 years, but since you asked: I've found that the cost of shipping often overwhelms any discount found by buying online. Check out trade groups such as the National Association of Container Distributors http://www.nacd.net/distributor.html to find local distributors. This won't help you as they don't cover Texas, but you get the general idea. Perhaps there is another group that covers the Southwest (or Westsouth as they say in China). One bag of Mayway raw powders (500g) should just fit into a standard mason jar. I recommend getting the smallest jar that fits the bill to limit the amount of air inside. Also, colored glass will help preserve the herbs. Light and oxygen are particular threats for the powdered raw because more surface area is exposed. I prefer plastic lids unless the metal lids have excellent rubber seals. I've used some metal lids that have terrible seals. Search this forum for the thread I started regarding powdered raw safety (around 02-08-06). There weren't many responses, but some good information was brought up. I wish more people had commented. Plastic or metal? How about you Tim, I know you're reading this! I plan on using 32oz straight sided jars for raw powdered herbs. So far the best deal I've found is at General Bottle Supply in LA: http://www.bottlesetc.com/index.html Paul Chinese Herbal Medicine offers various professional services, including board approved continuing education classes, an annual conference and a free discussion forum in Chinese Herbal Medicine.
