But after reading this study, how can you separate out drinking as

the salient feature which appeared to advantage the moderate drinkers

over the light or non-drinkers? For example, how do we know whether

or not moderate drinkers have by nature (or cultivation) the

physiology to easily detoxify alcohol and withstand negative effects?

Perhaps the non-drinkers have earlier on recognized their limitations

on well being from drinking and more or less abstained as a result.

That is, perhaps there is something about the moderate drinkers'

general hardiness (for lack of a better word) in 'handling' the toxin

of alcohol (and presumably other toxins perhaps) which confers

longevity and health, more than the alcohol consumption itself. Put

another way, it's the healthy buggers who are prudent in drinking,

not straying into the category of excessive drinkers who overburden

their systems in drink and possibly other ways, and thus maintain

their homeostasis even with a higher level of exposure than the cola

drinkers.

Just feelin' feisty,
