A water decoction as an external wash doesn't seem to have much ability to

treat deeper internal conditions. I would prefer liniments or oils that can

help carry the herbs through the skin.

Phil,

In Chinese martial arts medicine, turpentine is often used as a carrier

to bring herbs deep into the circulation. DMSO works well too. But you

need to vet the herbs for toxicity as more constituents will be carried

into the skin.

Phil:

I am using an herbal mix with alcohol for cervical

spondylosis. The alcohol is Gao Liang, 52% alcohol,

and the mix does provide temporary relief from

symptoms.
