Guest guest
TCM article in the Dec 2006 issue of Seed magazine, " The Old New Way: Chinese Traditional Medicine fights for Acceptance " (It isn't on www.seedmagazine.com- from the print version.) " ...science planners within the government, who believe the old ways hurt China's reputation abroad and stymie the science popularization project that's currently underway. From Beijing's vantage point, old-school TCM involves 'ideas that have weakened China in comparison to science- and technology-based Western powers'... 'If people in China regain confidence in the yin-yang theory, they will be lost for progress in science and technology.' Guest guest
That's what I love about the modern Chinese people. If you ever go to China, you'll see they managed to destroy anything that is old and beautiful and replace it with mass produced plastic crap. This policy is no different. I guess the Cultural Revolution really worked after all. In other parts of the world, old things show ones heritage and power, but not in China. Guest guest
But even this is an unchanging Chinese tradition... a seemingly absolute stability at any cost and then times of absolute change--- there is some lip-service paid to the ancient ways that justifies it. It's their changing of Yin and Yang. Ironically, at least in terms of architecture, to keep the old would be more " modern " what they are doing now. But I find it kind of tragic also. doug In , " " <attiliodalberto wrote: > > That's what I love about the modern Chinese people.
