Guest guest
In issue #10, 2006 of the Zhong Yi Za Zhi (Journal of Chinese Medicine), the lead article is about the possible use of metabonomics for 1) the objective validation of CM pattern discrimination, 2) determining the WM pharmacodynamics of CM formulas and medicinals, and 3) evaluating the safety of Chinese medicinals. Metabonomics is the study of patterns of metabolities in body fluids (such as urine) to get an overall picture of what's going on in a subject's body. As Wang and Xie surmise, metabonomics may be huge in the future of CM. After doing some reading on-line about metabonomics, it does seem to be an appropriate methodology for studying CM patterns and formulas. It may very well be the link between CM and WM that many Chinese researchers have been looking for. I recommend CHA readers to become familiar with this term. I think it's likely we'll see more about metabonomics and CM in the not so distant future. Bob
Guest guest
Bob, From the way that you describe metabonomics, it sounds much like what organic acid testing is in Functional medicine. Do you have any examples that we can compare what they are talking about to what we are doing over here? - _____ On Behalf Of Bob Flaws Tuesday, January 02, 2007 2:48 PM Metabonomics & CM pattern discrimination In issue #10, 2006 of the Zhong Yi Za Zhi (Journal of Chinese Medicine), the lead article is about the possible use of metabonomics for 1) the objective validation of CM pattern discrimination, 2) determining the WM pharmacodynamics of CM formulas and medicinals, and 3) evaluating the safety of Chinese medicinals.
