I have mixed feelings and opinions about the doctoral programs in our

profession. Since there are several in existence they have gained importance.

All I know about the programs comes from " articles " in publications of the

organizations who have championed the concept. What are you all thinking about

them?

I'm enrolled in a doctoral program right now at Five Braches in San Jose.

There have been a couple of dud classes, but most have been excellent. Well

worth the time and money. Most students out of the 35 in my class have been

practicing 10-20 years. They all seem to be enjoying the experience. I

wouldn't recommend it for a newly graduated Masters student, though. Best to

get some experience practicing and running a business before doing more

school. The fact that we all have years of clinical experience is one of the

main factors that makes it worthwhile.

That was pretty much my experience at ECTOM's DAOM too. There were those who

got very little from it and those who got a lot from it. I would say that

overall, it was a success for me. However, that was because I made the

program my own. I took from it what I wanted.
