Guest guest
Dear group, I am looking for a fairly straightforward, but not superficial, book, possibly with flow charts etc., to help with differential diagnosis of western diseases. For example, I want something that list all the possibilities, for something like uterine bleeding, and what needs to be done to exclude as well as diagnosis, that problem (i.e. fibroid). Does anyone have a book that they can recommend? -Jason <Chinese Medicine> <Chinese Medicine> tel: <http://www.plaxo.com/click_to_call?src=jj_signature & To=303.545.5792+x102 & Em ail=> www.Chinese Medicine <https://www.plaxo.com/add_me?u=30064918855 & v0=295000 & k0=1975548621> Add me to your address book... <http://www.plaxo.com/signature> Want a signature like this? Guest guest
Jason, I have been using Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine when I need to fully understand a disease. It's certainly not straightforward, but with the complexity of diseases this is a good reference book. Guest guest
Mosby's do a series of " crash course " books for med students that are quite useful. (Flow charts included). They are geared towards helping med students pass exams, but I have found the Mosbys crash course for Internal medicine quite useful for a quick reference. (And the gynae one isnt too bad either.) Then onto something more indepth depending on which way it steers me. I bought mine in China, and I think the ones I have are published for the UK market, there is probably a US version out there. (Adrenalin vs epinephrine etc.) Regards, Lea. , " " wrote: > > Dear group, > > > > I am looking for a fairly straightforward, but not superficial, book, > possibly with flow charts etc., to help with differential diagnosis of > western diseases. I always thought they were the same?? Same thing, UK/US English difference. One of the best books I've seen for differential flow charts with treatments is Decision Making in Medicine; An Algorithmic Approach, Second Edition, Harry L. Greene II, William P. Johnston, Dawn Lemcke, Mosby, St. Louis, 1998. Eric
Guest guest
Your right, they are exactly the same! Textbooks in the UK and Australia use the term Adrenalin and Noradrenalin, but because someone copyrighted (or trademarked, not sure which) the name in the US, textbooks there are obliged to refer to it as Epinephrine. Ridiculous, huh?! Regards, Lea. , " " wrote: > > Thanks all for the info. > > > > Hhhm.. maybe you can elaborate what the difference between adrenaline and > epinephrine is.. Guest guest
Another good book is " algorithmic diagnosis of symptoms and signs: a cost-effective approach " by R. douglas Collins, 2nd ed. ISBN 0-7817-3805-9. It's easy to follow and guide you with signs and symptoms approach. I have it in my Internal Medicine office all the time.
