Guest guest
Hi All, Qing Gan Extract (Cleanse LV Extract) may be of interest to those who have to treat advanced LV disease, like cirrhosis. See: Jang-Woo Shin, Jin-Young Son, Se-Mi Oh, Seung-Hyun Han, Jing-Hua Wang, Jung-Hyo Cho, Chong-Kwan Cho, Hwa-Seung Yoo, Yeon-Weol Lee, Myong-Min Lee, Xiao Ping Hu, Chang-Gue Son (2006) An herbal formula, CGX, exerts hepatotherapeutic effects on dimethylnitrosamine-induced chronic liver injury model in rats World J Gastroenterol 2006 October 14;12(38): 6142-6148. Fulltext is at: http://www.wjgnet.com/1007-9327/12/6142.asp Phil's note: CGX = Chungan Extract (Pinyin: Qing Gan Extract (Cleanse LV Extract)). It included 5g each of Artemisia capillaris Hb, Trionycis Carapax, Raphani S; 3g each of Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rz, Poria, Alismatis Rz, Atractylodis Rz, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Rx; 2g each of Polyporus, Amomi Fr, Aurantii Fr, and 1g of Glycyrrhizae Rx or Helenii Rx. The 10.71% (w/w) lyophilized water-extract was obtained from the initial dried mixture according to the Korean standard over-the-counter (OTC) monographs, and its high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC)-based fingerprint was produced by the CAMAG application system (Muttenz, Switzerland) Strangely, they seemed to consider Rx Helenii as a substitute for Rx Glycyrrhizae. From my notes the two herbs (Gancao & Tumuxiang are not that similar. It is an aromatic tonic, but as a medicine it is almost obsolete, except in whooping cough and other lung diseases, for which an infusion of the fresh root is used. It is destructive to the tubercle bacillus. It is chiefly used in veterinary practice. In France and Switzerland it is employed in the distillation of Absinth. The root has a weak, aromatic odour suggestive of garlic and camphor and a slightly bitter, not unpleasant taste. http://dyndcnc.dongying.gov.cn/datalib/2004/HerbalMedicine/DL/DL- 20040224104602 [ http://tinyurl.com/296qw5 ] says: Tumuxiang (Inulae helenii Rx); Cangmuxiang (Inulae racemosae Rx); Part used: (Ganzaogen, Dried Rx); both have very similar properties, actions & uses & are used interchangeably Nature: Warm; Acrid; Bitter; Enters: LV; SP Dose: 3-9g as Pill / Powder; Actions: Nourish SP & Harmonise ST (Jianpi Hewei ), Rectify Qi & Disperse ?Accumulation (Diaoqi Jieyu ), Ease Pain & Calm Foetus (Prevent Abortion) (Zhitong Antai ); Clinical uses: chest oppression (Xiongxie ), ST Cavity & Abdomen Swelling & pain (Wanfu Zhangtong ), emesis & diarrhoea/dysentery (Outu Xieli ), chest & body~upper contusion & bruising (Xiongxie Cuoshang ), chest ache & pain when breathing (Chaqi Zuotong ), Foetal restlessness & disquiet (hyperactive foetus) (Taidong Bu'an ) Best regards,
