Steinmetz, Herbalist, Netherlands [1954, in English, Dutch, German & French) http://www.herbaltherapeutics.net/MMV-I.pdf (part 1) and http://www.herbaltherapeutics.net/MMVII.pdf (part 2). The herb is cordial, sudorific and diuretic. It is used in the form of infusion. The leaf stalks dried and preserved with sugar form the sweetmeat called Candied Angelica. [With Dutch, German & French equivalents] RADIX BISTORTAE Polygonaceae Polygonum Bistorta Snake Weed root. Bistort root. It is a safe astringent and haemostatic in internal bleedings It is mild in its action.
