Hi All,

I would appreciate feedback (on or off-list) on the professional details of both

herbs, under

the following headings:

_Herb Details

Wujiapi

Ciwujia

_Class Action

_Medicinal Latin

Name

_Common name

_Temp

_Taste

_Channels Entered

_Dose

_Actions

_Clinical Uses

_Combinations

_CI/Cautions

Differing data on WWW about the two herbs - Ciwujia and Wujiapi - confuse me.

Different

sources use BOTH of those Pinyin names for " Siberian Ginseng " .

A Chinese Government website says:

Wujiapi = Acanthopanax gracilistylus, Dried Cx-Rx = Cx Acanthopanacis =

Slenderstyle

Acanthopanax Cx [Araliaceae]

Ciwujia = Acanthopanax senticosus, Dried Rx+Rz / stem = Rx / Caulis

Acanthopanacis

Senticosi = Manyprickle Acanthopanax [Araliaceae]

Which one of those IS " Siberian Ginseng " ? Which one IS Eleuthero?

Chinese Herbal Medicine - Materia Medica [Eastland Press] Changes and Errata

Corrected

in 2nd Printing says: " Acanthopanax gracilistylus ... was recently rechristened

Eleutherococcus nodiflorus. This is another reason to match the pinyin and

pharmaceutical

names for identification purposes.¡±

.... Some examples of this change are:

Eleutherococci nodiflori Cx [was Acanthopanacis Cx];

Eleutherococci senticosi Rx+Caulis [was Acanthopanacis senticosi Rx+Caulis

Eleutherococcus giraldii Cx [was Acanthopanacis giraldii Cx]

Best regards,
