I agree that one board should oversee and regulate all practitioners of acupuncture, based on the minimum of NCCAOM requirements. If they can't at least pass that, they are not to be called acupuncturists of any sort. The public does need to be educated (by our professional organizations) about the difference and not be coerced by the " recommendations " of their physicians. It has come back to me that some of my patients' M.D.'s, knowing they come to me, have recommended they " try out " the new D.O. acupuncturist in town.
