Guest guest
Dear CHA, I am taking lamisil for toenail infection and wanted to know what herbal formulas would mitigate the side-effects. If there are any that would enhance lamisil's effectiveness, I would like to know that too. Thank you, Carl Ploss

Guest guest
I'm a little more aggressive with toe nail fungus. It is a pesky, hard to get fungus so use a strong application. Mix 50/50 water and chlorine and put a couple drops on the nail. Do it for a few days. Then switch to clear iodine 2x/day. Do that for a couple months. I'm pretty sure the fungus is killed in a few weeks, but it takes a while for the nail to grow out again so you may not see good nail for a couple months. It is strong, but why use anything less than a total assault? Chris In a message dated 6/9/2007 10:38:24 A.M. Some people find 50-50 to be too strong (irritating) then drying the feet carefully and using a powder (talc or " Gold Bond " ) You can supplement this with applications of tea tree or oregano or tamanu oil. Guest guest
I use a patent called Tu Jin Liniment. A drop on each nail bid. Works at least 50% of the time. This is anecdotal, but interesting: my step mother¹s naturopath recommended a glass of black cherry juice daily to treat nail fungus. It worked, but I have no idea why. It is not for skin contact, imo. Also, when used as a cleaning agent (NOT on skin) against bacteria/virus/bacteria/virus/<WBR>etc., usually only a 10% solution is normal settings - a 50/50 ratio applied to skin seems extreme to me. Joy Hi Joy, The idea of not coming into contact with bleach is a fine idea. But consider this question. Do you shower in municipal water? If so, you are coming in contact with bleach. And lots of it. I was amazed when I moved from my house in the country with well water to the city. The first shower I took I felt like I had just covered myself in chemicals that coated my body rather than bathed myself clean. After doing some research I found that most city water is laden with toxins and the levels of bleach is similar to what you will find in a pool. Yucky. Anyhow, the 50/50 solution I am suggesting is using standard household bleach which is only 5% to start with. After you mix it down, it is only 2.5% or so. Given that it is going on a toe and not over the whole body, I am willing to bet you will absorb less chlorine from that toe than you do in the shower in the morning. I can understand how my suggestion could seem extreme, but I think after further consideration, you will find that the total amount of exposure is really quite low. Considering the effect of the fungus and the fact that we bath in chlorine daily anyway, I will stick with my suggestion. All the best, Chris ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
