Guest guest
Can anyone think of an instance in the SHL or JGYL that ZZJ explains a pathomechanism? Guest guest
How about in the SHL when he talks about " weakness in the construction and strength in the defense. " Isn't that talking about how the sweating that is particular to gui zhi tang has arisen? -Steve On Jul 3, 2007, at 10:49 AM, wrote: > Can anyone think of an instance in the SHL or JGYL that ZZJ explains a > pathomechanism? > > Just curious. > > -Jason > > <Chinese Medicine> > > <Chinese Medicine> > > tel: > <http://www.plaxo.com/click_to_call?src=jj_signature & To=303.545.5792 > +x102 & Em > ail=> > www.Chinese Medicine > > <https://www.plaxo.com/add_me? > u=30064918855 & v0=295000 & k0=1975548621> Add me > to your address book... <http://www.plaxo.com/signature> Want a > signature > like this? > >
Guest guest
Steve, Thanks for the post. I would say that you are correct, this is an example of a pathomechanism. Therefore I will ask, does this help you in treatment? If so how? When I use a SHL method this is probably one of the last things that I think about when I determine treatment. The signs and symptoms are usually being first, and constitution probably being second. I wonder how others feel and use the text? Glancing through the SHL I see only a couple other instances where commentators have considered phrases to be representing pathomechanisms, by in large I would say that they are few and far between. Maybe this is why many SHL approaches do not use them..? -Jason _____ On Behalf Of Stephen Bonzak Tuesday, July 03, 2007 12:49 PM Re: pathom of SHL etc How about in the SHL when he talks about " weakness in the construction and strength in the defense. Guest guest
Maybe I am ignorant here, but I see the SHL as a complete picture of pathomechanism. It is the bodies reaction to the various influences and how the terrain of our bodies will change. The stages are simply a bookmark. TCM on the other hand , if I were to be overly critical, is akin to chasing the symptoms. Closer to the lines of western thought. For instance, if one is thirsty drink water. The SHL I " see " as understanding why one is thirsty. Further I see the SHL as the 64 hexagrams (Yin-Yang) applied to human physiology, as in the case of excess cold. What am I missing here?
