Guest guest
David, I think many herbal businesses are now selling 5:1 extracts and I believe Blue Poppy carries some even stronger.Just compare prices at the different vendors. Mike Eidson - David Russell, L.Ac. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 2:08 PM [sPAM] KW Botanicals Has anyone heard of KW Botanicals and if so what are your thoughts on them? They provide fluid extracts for Chinese herbs and formulas and state that they are " 1:2 botanical extracts (herb to liquid), yielding a full complement of alcohol and water soluble active ingredients. " Just curious... David Russell
Guest guest
Mike, I think David says the herb to liquid ration is 2 to 1 which is different than our often debated 5:1 or 8:1 or 20:1 discussions about the relative strength of different companies extraction concentrations. Guest guest
These are liquid extracts, so the ratio would be 1:2, not 2:1. Standard tinctures are 1:5. Fluid extracts, where the alcohol is partly evaporated off, are a maximum of 1:1. The first number is grams of starting material; the second number is milliliters of finished liquid product. - Bill , " " wrote: > > Mike, I think David says the herb to liquid ration is 2 to 1 which is > different than our often debated 5:1 or 8:1 or 20:1 discussions about > the relative strength of different companies extraction concentrations. > Doug > > , " Mike Eidson " > <mdeidson@> wrote: > > > > David, > > > > I think many herbal businesses are now selling 5:1 extracts and I > believe Blue Poppy carries some even stronger.Just compare prices at > the different vendors. > > > > Mike Eidson > > > > > > - > > David Russell, L.Ac. > > > > Wednesday, August 15, 2007 2:08 PM > > [sPAM] KW Botanicals > > > > > > Has anyone heard of KW Botanicals and if so what are your thoughts on > > them? > > > > They provide fluid extracts for Chinese herbs and formulas and state > > that they are " 1:2 botanical extracts (herb to liquid), yielding a > > full complement of alcohol and water soluble active ingredients.
