So, this study says that legitimate acupuncture is no more beneficial than

sham acupuncture in the treatment of radiotherapy induced nausea.

Sometimes, when I get a headache, rather than needle myself, I'll imagine

needles generating qì sensation at LI 4 and GB 41. While I can maintain that

sensation in my mind, I get immediate relief from the headache.

There's some theoretical basis for this in qì göng. The " statement of fact "

is that the " qì follows the shén " . This means that if you pay attention to

your hands for instance, they'll warm up as the qì follows the shén to that

location.

My question is, does sham acupuncture cause the shén to focus on the area in

question, thus leading the qì there with a somewhat similar clinical outcome

as the legitimate acupuncture?

I think that acu-research will remain limited by these protocols until we

can discover a more neutral control group mechanism for research.
