Guest guest
Has anybody treated children with Staph infection. I recently saw a 2 year old, Mexican/African Am female who is breaking out with staph infections. Her first abscess was Feb 7th. She had a fv for 3 days which went up to 102*. This abscess was drained on an outpat. basis about two weeks later. Abscess was on left buttock near anus. She did a round of antibiotics. abscess was resolved. The child was in Daycare at the time. Second abscess appeared in April and thr third was in June. Both of these were also on the buttock sl. latteral to the first. Both times the child took a round of antibiotic. One of the first three abscesses took two rounds of AB to clear. I don't remember which one. I just know that by the 4th outbreak she was on her 5th round of ABs. I saw the child on 9/18. She had a small abscess (4th) on her lat. lower leg near GB 39. She was at the end of a round of Cleocin peds AB. She was also taking Primadophilus Children, by Natures way - digestive flora and Wellness Herbal Kids by Source Naturals - Immune support which consist of Yin Qiao San, echinacea, golden seal, elder berry, ginger root, boneset aerial parts, eleuthero, elder flower, isatis root, horehound aerial pts, bay berry bark. Living conditions are impeccably clean. The mother has quit school and keeps the child at home since June outbreak. She is not allowing visitors in the house except for the baby's father (I was the exception). The house hold consists of child, mother and grandmother. Tongue: Sl red with prickles less fur front and back, thin fur middle. very tip is sl. more red No visible vein on either finger. We looked at the child's diet which was already a very good diet. No junk foods, lots of vegetable, fruit, watered down juices etc. I suggested to cut out juice and add teas instead. Start meals with soups and warms foods before cold foods. Cooling foods, no sugar which there was very little already(except for some fruits. No white flower or processed foods. yogur with acedophelis. She is a good eater, not picky and loves veggies. He looks healthy and happy, very bright and alert. She sleeps good - 12 hrs/ night + 1 -2 short naps / day. I saw the child again 10/2/07. She just finished her last dose of AB at the end of Sept. Since she has had a few very small bumps/abscess on her arm (SJ area) and around ankle. These are not confirmed Staph infections. In fact they look more like mosquito bites. No fever. She does have one pea size sub-dermal mas just inside the crease of her left buttock near other outbreaks. This could be another abscess forming or scar tissue from past outbreaks. Hard to tell yet. Any help, suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nanie Carrillo Other wise known as Claudia
