granule herb pharmacy

Hi all,

I am looking for single herb granules packaged in single dose

quanities that I can use to start a pharmacy. I have been using

herbal tinctures which has worked well, but I thought it would be

easier if I could find a company that made pre-packaged single dose

herbs. Any insight into patient compliance with granules. I haven't

used them before. Also, any suggestions on better ways to consume

would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Heather Vandeburg LAc MSOM

This may be old information, haven't been there in years, but they've got

what you're looking for.

I think that the benefit of these individual packets is that you don't end

up with the powders in the air leaving an earthy thick dust over everything

in the room. However, I think its a lot of work for the patient to always

have to open them up, but probably not a big deal for them.

What do you mean by single dose quantities?

I own an herbal pharmacy in Berkeley, CA.I mix up the herbs in a small,

contained space with an air filter that is not a treatment room and give the

client a gram spoon and a plastic bottle of herbs that they can carry around

with them. The normal dose is 3 grams tid or 4 grams bid if they prefer. There

is some dust but its a minor issue. Frankly, I find that this is pretty easy and

compliance is good. Opening lots of little packets seems a bit tedious and

cumbersome both the patient and the practitioner to administer.

>Thanks for the info. Do you have any advice on better ways of taking

powdered herbs. My experience is limited. In the past I have tried

mixing with water which was not much fun (very clumpy). I also have

taken powder directly which leaves quite an after-taste. I thought

granules would be better than powders. My thought on packets was not

as messy and better shelf life. I guess what I meant by single dose

quanities was 3-6g for most herbs, more packets would be used if

needed.
