Guest guest
Hi Dia, It seems to me there is more going on here than your patient needing good treatment. No matter how good your treatments are, good hygiene is a must, and she needs her partner's cooperation to make sure this is tended to. Perhaps her partner will attend an appointment you can discuss it with the two of them. Counseling might be in order too. No relationship should be a barrier to adequate health care. I don't have experience treating this condition, but I do have some background with the dynamics of the community you are speaking of. You may contact me off list if I can be of further assistance. I have a patient with this who has resigned herself to the ongoing outbreaks, which is heartbreaking. More heartbreaking is that this patient doesn't seem to have any concept of personal hygiene. We've spoken several times about the importance of washing her hands, keeping open wounds covered, not sharing personal items and avoiding others' open wounds. Her case is complicated because she is a submissive in dominant/submissive relationships and feels she can't speak up for herself to the dominant.
