Very bad news: Web Journal of Acupuncture is dying, if not dead

Hi All,

It is with great regret that I bring very bad news about the demise of the Web

Journal of Acupuncture.

That resource at http://users.med.auth.gr/~karanik had huge amounts of

useful data on human and animal acupuncture but it is accessible because

of a fatal crash of the base server http://users.med.auth.gr located in the

Medical School of Thessaloniki.

Because the of financial cutbacks, and the cost of maintaining the service,

the medical School has said that its new server (due soon) WILL NOT host

the Web Journal of Acupuncture any longer.

Therefore, it appears that all previously accessible articles in Web Journal of

Acupuncture will no longer be accessible.

I am in discussion with Dr. Charisios Charanikiotes about if (and how) we

can salvage the old files from the Journal and find a new home for them

(while maintaining all the internal hyperlinks between those documents).

Even if we can find a NEW home for the old articles, the demise of the

original server means that ALL hyperlinks in the files there PLUS all

hyperlinks in our other files ON OTHER SERVERS and homepages will

need to be changed. This will be a massive task, needing much extra work

for every author involved.

I am very sorry to have to bring you this news. It poses great headaches for

those of us who have lectures and papers on acupuncture and related topics

now evaporated into thin air.

Life is transient and WWW life even more so.

Best regards,
