Meaning of Jia Wei (Augmented) versus Jia Jian (Modified)

Is that correct?

 

I thought that:

 

(1) " Jia Wei " means " with ADDED (extra) flavours / herbs " , i.e.

AUGMENTED but with nothing taken away

 

(2) " Jia Jian " means " additions and subtractions " , i.e. MODIFIED, with some

herbs removed and some different ones added

 

Please correct me if that is not so.
