Guest guest
I have a 50+ year old female that presents with RA and 1 rheumatoid nodule on the dorsal side of her (rt) wrist. The nodule is approximately 2 x 2 x 1 (inches). I was wondering if anyone has good luck in treating these. Since internally I have not had much luck I am most interested in external treatments, although if there is some non-obvious method I would love to hear about it. The actual nodule is typical of rheumatoid nodules and occasionally becomes hot when really inflamed. Otherwise temperature is normal. It has persisted for 9 months. Any ideas would be much appreciated. - tel: <http://www.plaxo.com/click_to_call?src=jj_signature & To=303.545.5792+x102 & Em ail=> www.Chinese Medicine <http://www.plaxo.com/signature?src=client_sig_212_1_simple_sig> Want a signature like this? Guest guest
I am sure this is not a rocket science answer you might want... but, i generally acupuncture on either side of the nodules or the knuckles when it is there. Often very good at bringing acute swelling down. Doug , " " wrote: > > I have a 50+ year old female that presents with RA and 1 rheumatoid nodule > on the dorsal side of her (rt) wrist. Guest guest
Doug, Thanks for the input. Unfortunately this case is past the acute stage, and for some reason acu never seemed to do very much, probably my own insufficiency though… -Jason _____ On Behalf Of Friday, December 14, 2007 12:33 AM Re: rheumatoid nodule I am sure this is not a rocket science answer you might want... but, i generally acupuncture on either side of the nodules or the knuckles when it is there. Guest guest
Wow! I was just thinking of the finger nodules like you see with RA patients. I have read about treatments - but have no idea of what a realistic prognosis is for these patients. I would think a cure would be very tough (if possible at all) with these or the RA finger growths. I would be happy to be wrong though. The person who has a lot of experience and from whom I learned this (from books) is Jiao Shu-de. He actually did a lot of research in this area and won awards for his work. His methods are available in all three of his translated texts: Lectures on the use of Medicinals, Lectures on the use of Formulas and especially Lectures on the use of Pattern Identification. This third book has good cases and discussion. In a nut shell, in addition to careful differentiation between heat, cold, damp etc. when there are hard lumps, he adds Kidney herbs that go to the bones such as Bu Gu Zhi, Gu Sui Bu and Xu Duan. I've learned a ton from him. It's a bit hard to look stuff up in the Pattern Identification book if you want to look it up by the main complaint of the case study. I made a little table of contents for myself to make it easier. If you would like this, let me know. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, That would be very kind of you. I have two of the books and have only glossed over them. I end up buying too many books and doing enough reading! I wonder if there is a ganglion cyst treatment implied in this as well?
