Guest guest
Hope this isn't too off topic. For those in NY: Dear Friends, How easy do you think it is to mobilize people to write letters concerning a new " 9-11 " benefit? A new 9-11 Mental Health / Substance Abuse Benefit is about to become available to those directly affected by 9-11. It is similar to the Red Cross funded benefit that ended Dec. 31st 2007. One of the differences is that it explicitly states that it will not cover auricular acupuncture as a mental health benefit. After treating thousands of people (usually pro bono) in New York, Louisiana and in Vietnam we know how helpful the ear acupuncture is for symptoms related to PTSD. I am not sure how to approach this potential battle but I don't want to have the new program go into effect without bringing the benefits of acupuncture into the forefront. It is my understanding that the program will be administered through the Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene. If you are interested in addressing this issue please contact me and once we have a contact person at the DOH we can see what is the best avenue to take. Thanks for your time, Wendy Z.
