Hi All,

(1) A previous mail to the List mentioned HerbMedPro as a useful resource.

For example, see the details for Aconitum at

http://www.herbmed.org/Herbs/Herb223.htm

I emailed Jackie Wootton, M.Ed., Director, HerbMed, PO Box 60016,

Potomac, MD 20859. http://www.herbmed.org to ask about the cost of

access to HerbMedPro, the professional version of HerbMed.

Her reply was:

For simple password protected Web access to the entire HerbMedPro

database for personal use, an individual subscription is most suitable and

costs $45 US per year. You can pay through our secure Credit Card screen:

https://www.applyweb.com/public/contribute?s=amfherb Foreign currency

payments are converted automatically.

You can test out HerbMed http://www.herbmed.org - a public service project.

It provides access to approximately 30 of the most commonly used herbs

and some controversial ones. The data in HerbMed essentially is the same

as in HerbMedPro but it is not updated as often. Only click on herbs that do

not have a * beside them, e.g., Ginkgo biloba. (Herbs with * are only

available through HerbMedPro.)

Both HerbMed and HerbMedPro have a Dynamic Updates. Go to the

Dynamic Updates category, click on Live PubMed Searches and then click

on any of the searches. If there is no result, it means that there is no recent

research available for that subcategory. Please let me know if you have

further questions. Sincerely, Jackie Wootton, M.Ed., Director, HerbMed, PO

Box 60016, Potomac, MD 20859. http://www.herbmed.org

(2) Thanks to Joyce Harman (VBMA) for the link to Micheal Derrida's herb

database at http://www.mdidea.com/idea/index.html

The site is being upgraded and several pages are inaccessible just now.

However, Mddidea has useful and impressively detailed data, including

chemistry, from western & Asian herbal traditions.

For example, see details

for Lianzi-Lotus Root at

www.mdidea.com/products/proper/proper06667.html

or for Taoren-Peach S Kernel at

http://www.mdidea.com/products/proper/proper015.html

Best regards,
