Compare & Contrast 4 forms of Rx Glycyrrhizae-Gancao?

Hi All,

 

Would experts on the List care to compare and contrast the key actions &

uses (and differences) of 4 different forms of Rx Glycyrrhizae?

 

(a) Gancao

 

(b) Shenggancao (Fresh / unprepared)

(d) Shaogancao / Gancaoshao (tips of root / fine roots )

 

Amalgamated WWW data treat these 4 forms as more or less as the same,

except for (d) which is classed as Cold (and is used more than the other 3

forms in Fire / Heat cases, infections & Toxic cases), whereas a, b and c are

classed as Warm or Even.
