Guest guest
Question for dermatology folk (or others) - Any experience in treating pemphigus? I have been treating a patient with acu for a while (mostly addressing her emotional issues and side-effects of her meds). I haven't gone down the herb route b/c it feels a little over my head. But she is on a roller coaster of prednisone and immunosuppressants and I would love to be able to help break this cycle. Basically I would like to know if this condition is something that may respond to herbs. I of course realize that an appropriate TCM differentiation is necessary. Thanks Adam

Guest guest
Patient is 52 y.o. female. Generally in good health aside from pemphigus. Eats healthy, exercises, leads an active life, taking a break from work b/c of pem. She is kind of high-strung and hyper (even w/out prednisone) but has a good outlook on life. Tongue is purple w/thin white coat. pulse is typically tight and/or wiry but the prednisone makes it rapid, strong and surging. Right now she is taking prednisone (weaning down from 60mg/day, she is now down to 30mg) and Cellcept (immunosupressant often used for transplant patients). In the past year she has been on and off these meds - they do control the pemphigus lesions but the prednisone makes her feel like she is " speeding with the emergency brake on " in her words, and the Cellcept gives her diarrhea. Lesions are on her trunk - front and back. And her gums tend to slough off too when things are flared up. Trevor - any thoughts on this type of case? , " Robert Chu " <chusauli wrote: > > Hard stuff - toxic damp heat - you need a lot of detoxing Rx's > > What is the patient's constitution, health, age, etc?
