Louis - I certainly appreciate the attention you have placed upon

my work. I do wish to make a distinction. The *ruo mai* is not the same as

what Hammer

calls the 'cotton' pulse. John HF Shen called it a sad, depressed

or *yu *pulse. The *ruo mai* is deep weak and thready. I think that I was

likely not

clear when I said that people often conflate the *ruo mai *with

the cotton pulse. The article can be downloaded at

http://www.pulsediagnosis.com/IntegrativeMedicineandtheCottonPulse.htm, or

one can also just click on http://www.pulsediagnosis.com and

navigate there.

Pulses that demonstrate hidden evils include distortions in the

arrival of the wave. In the anatomical method, the *mo yuan *may also be

palpated .

This is the area which is the

distal aspect of Shen's diaphragm pulse.

Bob and all other contibutors on this subject

My immediate reaction to this text on evil qi becoming depressed, not being

thust out and

Yin qi being " quilted " brings to mind an article by William Morris on the

Cotton (ruo mai),

deep, weak, floating and slow pulses, and poor lymph return with all which

that entails-

Spleen Xu, Kidney Yang Xu, Heart Qi & Yang Xu, Damp accumulation and even

Yin Fire.
