Guest guest
At the school I went to, not one of the teachers had been trained to teach. I think it's a common misconception that being skilled in TCM (or any field) means one has the ability to teach it. I was an " English Teacher " for a few years, and even though my English is great, I have no illusions that I was a good, or even decent, teacher. Is this lack of teacher training standard throughout the field? I know in conventional universities most professors are chosen because they are experts in the field, not because of their teaching skill. When I hear complaints about students on this forum I often wonder how much training the teacher has. Do other schools provide training for teachers? Are there seminars on this topic? Just curious, Carl ps Since I've only been taught by one person on this list that I know of, please don't think I'm making a critique of anyone's teaching skill. Certain comments just bring up aspects of my own experience and questions I have.

I'm not clear on exactly how ACAOM describes the requirements of the DAOM program, but I believe that learning how to teach and do research are common to all the programs. -al. -- , DAOM Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
