Bob, I agree 100% It SUITS manufacturers of granulars (and pills / tablets) to advertise a LOW dose of their product because the consumer feels that the COST/DOSE is reasonable. If, however, the dose should be 2-3 times more, then the COST/DOSE would be 2-3 times higher also! This is exactly what happened some years ago when I helped a company develop a slow-release (resin-based) ruminal bolus to supplement cobalt, selenium and iodine to cows at grass. From years of previous research, we had established the target doses of each (Co, Se, I) needed (10, 5 and 60mg/cow/d, respectively). The company included circa 60 times the daily target per bolus but sold it as a 180-day supply because the cost per cow would have doubled or trebled if they followed our recommendation re optimum doses. When farmers used the company's recommended dose (1 bolus/cow), the results were poor. If however, they used 2-3 boluses/cow (as we had recommended), the results were excellent. Guest guest
It is a very short sighted company that recommends less than effective dose amounts. Without results, patients leave.
