Hi Doug, & All,

Mea culpa, Doug ... you are correct.

For an idea of GROSS salaries for third-level (Maynooth University) teachers in

Ireland, see

http://tinyurl.com/6c3ub6

From those data gross ANNUAL salaries (as of June 1, 2007) were:

(1) Professor;

(2) Associate Professor;

(3) Senior Lecturer;

(4) Lecturer;

(5) Junior Lecturer;

(6) Assistant Lecturer;

(7) Sub-Lecturer;

(8) Acting Dept Head (Additional Allowance)

| Min (EU) | Max (EU) | Min (US$)* | Max (US$)*

(1) | 105721 | 136034 | 165475 | 212920

(2) | 80846 | 108064 | 126540 | 169142

(3) | 65116 | 91960 | 101920 | 143936

(4) | 48936 | 79329 | 76595 | 124166

(5) | 36624 | 43128 | 57324 | 67504

(6) | 33825 | 54593 | 52943 | 85449

(7) | 29094 | | 45538 |

(8) | 2346 | | 3672 |

*Today´s conversion rate: 1 EU = 1.5652 US$

NOTE: Cost of living / housing in Ireland is among the highest in the EU and top

rate of tax is

48% of taxable income in the upper band

I suspect that lecturers in US / Irish TCM schools are paid less than in the

Universities

I also suspect that writers of TCM books receive relatively small royalties from

their books

because total annual book sales would be relatively small.

Finally, I suspect that lecturers on the international circuit, especially those

who ORGANISE

AND GIVE 3-day (weekend) crash courses for all-comers (including wannabees with

no prior

training in medicine - a huge market!) make substantial annual incomes if they

can organise,

say, 20 seminars / year.

For example, attendees at professional seminars in EU can expect to pay

registration fees of

80-200 EU/day. A 3-day seminar would gross 240-600 EU/head.

At 30 participants / weekend, this would gross 7200-18000EU / weekend, or

144000-

360000EU / year.

PS: The honorarium for an INVITED (guest) lecturer on AP Training Courses in EU

is circa

200EU / lecture hour + travel & accommodation costs. A guest lecturer who gives

8 hours of

lectures over one weekend would receive an honorarium of circa 1600 EU for that

weekend.

Best regards,
