Guest guest
Hi All, QUESTION: Is there anything in Yunnan Baiyao that would be classed as a banned substance in human athletic competition or in horse / dog racing? I would appreciate a rapid response as a client needs this info ASAP. Whether used orally or topically, Yunnan Baiyao is said to be one of the best formulas available against trauma**, to Stop Bleeding**, Disperse Blood Stagnation, Clear Toxin, Lessen Swelling, Vulnerary / Heal Wounds, Engender Tissue & Ease Pain. It is difficult to get exact details of the ingredients in Yunnan Baiyao. Also, different companies use different ingredients in their version of the formula. Below are the ingredients and ratios in one version of Yunnan Baiyao: 77.0 Sanqi / Tianqishen-Rx Notoginseng 6.6 Sanyucao-Clarke´s Hb 5.0 Shanyao / Shanyao (Huai)-Rz Dioscoreae Oppositae 3.9 Chuanshanlong / Bixie-Rz Dioscoreae Nipponicae / Hypoglaucae 2.7 Laoguancao / Laohecao-Hb Erodii Stephaniani / Hb Geranii 2.3 Gaoliangjiang / Kuliangjiang-Rz Alphiniae Officiari 1.9 Niudan (Bai)-Fel Bovis 0.6 Bingpian / Shexiang-Borneolum / Moschus Sanqi-Rx Notoginseng is the main ingredient (77% of formula weight in the example above). Note that Bingpian / Shexiang are aromatics; could these show on a dope test? Note also that the formula has circa 8.9% of Yam powder. Yam is known to have steroid precursors and progesterone- / oestrogen- & anabolic- type effects. Would these show on a dope test? One trial compared the effects of Sanqi versus Yunnan Baiyao on clotting time after experimental venesection in lab animals, BOTH treatments markedly shortened clotting time but there was no significant difference between Sanqi and the complete formula. This suggests that Sanqi may be as effective as the complete formula to stop bleeding. If the Yams and Aromatics in Yunnan Baiyao pose a problem re dope tests, do you see any reason why Sanqi alone might not be used to prevent bleeding? Many thanks, PS: I do not know what ingredients are in the little red pill (usually reserved for severe trauma with shock). Do you know?
