Guest guest
There has been a lot of talk about microwaving food / herbs, but not much talk about the specifics. Not all microwave ovens are the same - different wattages, different inner linings, with or without rotating carousels (different speeds of rotation, too). Plus one can usually change the " power setting " on microwaves. For instance, I can choose a power setting based on 10% increments on all 3 of my microwave ovens. If I cook or heat up something at 30% power instead of 100% power, what is the difference to the food / herbs. Does this make it better or worse. Do the studies just use 100% power or did they try low power settings also. Is it really the microwave radiation itself or the amount of or strength of it that is making the perceived difference that motivates the studies? Brian C. Guest guest
Brian In one of the studies i read lowering the power resulted in same taste and consistency of the foods they tested as with steaming.
Guest guest
Don't forget that some companies use microwaves to sterilize their dried extracts. You might be using microwaved products despite your best efforts to avoid them. - Bill Schoenbart , " Alon Marcus " <alonmarcus wrote: > > Brian > In one of the studies i read lowering the power resulted in same taste and consistency of the foods they tested as with steaming. > > > > > > > > > >
