Just my 2 cents on essiac tea. I have quite a few favorable reports on using

essiac tea (27% Burdock: 55% Sheep Sorrel: 4 % Indian Rhubarb: 14% Slippery

Elm). It is very cheap, easy to make, and good patient participation (does

not taste bad). Four ounces of the herbs (one cupful) makes one gallon of

tea of which only one ounce in the evening 2 hours after dinner at bedtime

is sufficient. Therefore four ounces may last 3-4 months. It does not appear

to interfere with other treatment protocols, does not break he bank. A few

have said they feel more energetic while taking essiac tea. Also good

reports with dogs, including improving quality of life.

Awhile ago Z'ev gave a Chinese perspective of the formula concluding that

it may not be indicative for a Spleen Deficient patient. Over the years I

have been mindful of this, however, when used in those cases, essiac did not

seem to have any of the expected adverse reactions and I have since have not

been cautious (although remaining aware). I believe this caution is not

warranted as the dosage (especially compared to the typical Chinese formula)

is so extremely low. The " classical " recipe is 4 ounces herbs to 128 ounces

of water, twice boiled and from that 1 ounce of tea to 2 parts warm water.

Of course there are those that feel if a little is good, then more is better

and really go overboard. Those that tend towards the ore is better and also

in otherwise good constitution I recommend a tolerance level. That is

usually 6 ounces (of the diluted tea) 2 oz at bedtime, 2 upon rising, and 2

two hours after dinner. The 2 ounces may be increased to where the patient

feels subjectedly like that is getting to be too much and then to reduce

that amount.

In my experience the " success " is from the younger healthier more robust

individuals where an X-Ray or test has noticed a tumor or concern. I do

have people who have come to me just to buy essiac tea (no

diagnosis/treatment) who have been taking it for awhile and lost their

supplier for one reason or another, and report hat their cancer has been in

remission. Of course they swear by it. Those that I have treated that are in

late stage I have not had success - other than this important experience.

The family and friends would contribute (by making the tea) and the patient

even though bed ridden would be drinking the tea. No adverse affects and

this to me seemed very peaceful.

I also like Xiao Chai hu tang and Gui zhi fu ling (adding kun bu and hai

zao) and have good reports also. I won't say they cured cancers or tumors

but many patients have reported it reduced the size of their tumors and feel

good about the product.

Peace
