Dear friends,

I write to you with a request for a referral in Los Angeles.   Let me first

tell you about my patient.  Some of you may recall that about a year

ago I wrote  regarding a patient with severe varicose veins.   This is a very

tall (6'1 " ) post menopausal woman who presented with (obviously!) blood stasis

resulting from blood vacuity and accompanying Sp Qi and Yin and Yang vacuity as

well.  I had successfully treated mild cases before using herbs acupuncture

and CranioSacral therapy.  Particularly,  I would bleed and cup superficial

veins, and so when I accepted her as a patient, I was confident that I would be

successful as well.   Unfortunately, though,  rather than helping, the

treatment actually exacerbated and increased the  ugly discolored swellings

(particularly in the ankles) and itching. Ulcerations and skin flaking developed

as well.   Nothing I have done has been helpful, as far as she is concerned,

 she is

beside herself in pain and discomfort,  and her husband is ready for her to go

for vascular surgery to strip her veins.  She feels traumatized and betrayed as

she feels I let her down.  In retrospect, I have learned much from this

patient--how incredibly important it is to consider and treat underlying

vacuities first, in cases of stasis such as these.  But now I am no longer able

to apply what I have painfully learned and appeal to you.  Can anyone refer me

to, or represent themselves as being experienced in treating varicose veins,

using correctly the wonderful multiple therapies in the arsenal of Chinese

medicine?

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration,
