Guest guest Posted August 4, 2008 Report Share Posted August 4, 2008 Bill, Thanks. I was however aware that saw palmetto can downregulate 5-alpha reductase, as well as many other Western herbs such as pumpkin seed. I am just curious, is saw palmetto a Chinese botanical? -Jason _____ On Behalf Of bill_schoenbart Monday, August 04, 2008 4:11 PM Re: DHT Saw Palmetto is known to inhibit 5 alpha reductase: http://www.ncbi. <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15543614?ordinalpos=12 & itool=EntrezSyste m2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum> nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15543614?ordinalpos=12 & itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed ..Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum Other studies show that the effect is improved when it is combined with astaxanthin. - Bill Schoenbart @ <%40> , " " wrote: > > Does anyone know of any Chinese botanicals that downregulate the enzyme, > 5-alpha reductase, thereby decreasing the production of DHT from > testosterone? > > > > -Jason > > > > > > > > <http://maps. <http://maps./py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap & addr=2600+30th+Street%2C+Suite+20 > /py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap & addr=2600+30th+Street%2C+Suite+20 > 0 & csz=Boulder%2C+Co & country=us> 2600 30th Street, Suite 200 > Boulder, Co > 80301 > > > > > > > > <http://www.plaxo. <http://www.plaxo.com/signature?src=client_sig_212_1_simple_sig> com/signature?src=client_sig_212_1_simple_sig<=en> Want a > signature like this? > > > > > > Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
